Point of Rocks Train Station is a historic railroad station located along the Potomac River. It is situated in Point of Rocks, Maryland, approximately 21 miles (34 kilometers) northwest of Washington, D.C. The station has a rich history, dating back over a century, and it has served as a significant transportation hub in the region. The Point of Rocks Train Station was originally constructed in the 1870s by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O). It played a crucial role in the development of the railroad system in the United States, as it was a key junction point where the B&O Railroad’s mainline crossed the Potomac River into Virginia. This location facilitated the movement of goods and passengers between the North and the South during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. After taking this photograph, I spent several hundred hours recreating this photo using various painting overlay techniques in Photoshop.
